FAQs

What is SIL, and how is it different from regular housing?

Do I choose my housemates?
Yes, participant choice and compatibility are prioritised. We also support transitioning if a home doesn’t meet your expectations.

Can I live alone with SIL?
Yes, you can live in a solo setting if your NDIS plan includes funding for individualised living options.

Is there overnight staff?
Yes, we provide 24/7 support, including active and passive overnight shifts.

What support will I get?
Support may include cooking, personal care, transport, medication, and emotional support based on your NDIS goals.

How do I apply?
We’ll help you assess your needs, gather evidence, and apply for SIL funding during your plan reassessment.

What if I want to change homes?
You’re free to request a change. We’ll work with you and NDIA to find a better fit.

Is SIL long-term or short-term?
SIL is typically long-term, but short-term arrangements can be organised based on your plan.

Can my family visit?
Yes, family and friends are welcome to visit, subject to house rules and participant preferences.

Is SIL only for high-needs clients?
No. While often used by clients with complex needs, SIL can benefit anyone who requires support in daily living.
